Designing A Functional Laundry
Over the last few years, we have designed some large and small laundries for our clients.
The laundry, a room that can easily be overlooked in our homes. A well-designed laundry is practical, functional and helps to make those chores a lot easier to manage.
We love a design challenge. In large or small spaces, we always find a solution to create a functional, enticing room.
We tend to incorporate texture and colour within this room.
In our design concept we like to find out about our client’s need.
We often integrate the following in the design of the laundry.
- Ironing and folding station
- Cloth hanging and drying
- Luggage storage
- Special wash station for our client’s pets
- Laundry tubs that are elegant enough for icing the party drinks.
The Vertical Stack
The Vertical Stack laundry was designed as part of a new bathroom for the project at our Eastwood Residence.
Working with a wall width of 1.5m; we managed to include a washing machine, dryer and plenty of storage.
The laundry tub is large enough to bath Lola the pet dog.
Spacious Laundry Concept Layout
For this project, we came up with a new, clean laundry layout. Our clients were after continuity by using the existing kitchen finishes for this space. The granite benchtop, cabinet doors finish and hardware was sourced by the cabinet maker.
The floor tiles were resurfaced with natural colour. The result of this area is sleek and practical.
A 3D visualisation shows the layout of the room and how the materials and finishes will look. In this laundry, we incorporated a set of pull out washing baskets, lots of stone-bench space and an apron Belfast sink in front of the garden bay window.
3D Visualisation helps the client understand the space and its function.
This project was done in 2011. The room is long and narrow, the appliances fit perfectly underneath the benchtop. Tall wall mounted cabinets add a lot of storage. A bright apple green Laminex benchtop adds a fun element to the room.
