Upgrading the family bathroom

Upgrading the family bathroom

The process of one of our latest projects.

The scope of work was to guide our clients revamp their main bathroom. The bathroom could do with an upgrade to a more modern look.

We love to help our clients by presenting an excellent design scope that will enhance the quality of their life at home and the look of their homes.

Today’s bathrooms are a sanctuary for wellness

The owners built the family home 20 years ago. Since then, bathroom fixtures have changed. The brief was to keep the layout of the bathroom. To further enhance the character of the home, we looked at adding a dash of luxury with clean lines by selecting two different tiles; the contrasting tiles play with the proportion of the spaces. A free-standing bath is a perfect sanctuary for relaxation. Meanwhile, the separate open shower and rain shower bring that wellness we crave after a long day at work.

The Original Bathroom

The 3-way bathroom has a separate toilet, separate bath and shower area. The access to the vanity and basin is through the hallway. Looking at the original space our focus was on the tiles; all walls had tiles from floor to ceiling. Not all walls need to be tiled with the same tiles. The use of different sizes, shapes, textures and coloured tiles will help create a coherent space, it helps guide our eyes to see a focal point or area.

This 3-way bathroom had too many timber architraves. While we love a beautifully detailed architrave; here for instance it creates clutter, it emphasises all the angular corners. We removed the timber architraves around the windows and finished the window surround with a clean-cut tile surround.

3D Visualisation of the Upgraded Bathroom

We select all the finishes and present a 3D walk-through animation to help our clients visualise their new space.

Colour and Texture

We blended the door architraves by painting them the same colour as the doors for the bathroom upgrade. The doors are painted a crisp clean white similar to the walls around the vanity area and toilet area.
